I am having difficulty with my internet speed. It worked fine until four days ago. Now my average speed is ~75KiB/s. It is a hotspot connected through my phone. The phones' speed is fine.
There are many posts, however I have not been able to convert their suggestions to resolving my issue. So far I have succeeded in collecting a list of various CLI outputs.
If anyone is willing to help I would be appreciative.

Please issue the following command:echo "blacklist ideapad_wlan" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
and reboot your computer. Issuesudo systemctl restart systemd-modules-load.service
. Now connect your Wi-Fi to internet and conduct some speed tests. Please report the result.

Thanks for the response. I ran the first command, shut down, ran the second command, and got: Latency Test Error Could not connect to the test server. A firewall could be blocking the connection or the server might be having some issues. It is still sitting at ~75.

Apr 17 at 14:08
Please edit/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
and changeideapad_wlan
toideapad_laptop
and save the file. Now reboot your computer. Issuesudo systemctl restart systemd-modules-load.service
and observe the output. If no output, then the blacklisting was successful. Now connect your Wi-Fi to internet and conduct some speed tests. Please report the result. Please post the output of the commandrfkill
.

Apr 17 at 15:23
The blacklisting was successful: blacklist ideapad_wlan. At least to that degree. Should I follow your current suggestion minus the file edit? To note, I did the first suggestion twice to attempt to connect before running systemctl and it did connect to the internet. So, maybe the blacklist did not work?
– DMon
Apr 17 at 15:29
Let me understand you. Now you are referring to my first comment. What was the output of the commandsudo systemctl restart systemd-modules-load.service
after blacklistingideapad_wlan
? Can you use Bluetooth now? Is it working?

Please edit/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
and changeideapad_wlan
toideapad_laptop
and save the file. Now reboot your computer. Issuesudo systemctl restart systemd-modules-load.service
and observe the output. If no output, then the blacklisting was successful. Now connect your Wi-Fi to internet and conduct some speed tests. Please report the result. Please post the output of the commandrfkill
.

The blacklisting was successful: blacklist ideapad_wlan. At least to that degree. Should I follow your current suggestion minus the file edit? To note, I did the first suggestion twice to attempt to connect before running systemctl and it did connect to the internet. So, maybe the blacklist did not work?

Let me understand you. Now you are referring to my first comment. What was the output of the commandsudo systemctl restart systemd-modules-load.service
after blacklistingideapad_wlan
? Can you use Bluetooth now? Is it working?
