Can you right-click on the panel, click Add to Panel, then select the items you want? I have a couple of MATE systems, but not on Ubuntu; should be the same concept, though.

Can you right-click on the panel, click Add to Panel, then select the items you want? I have a couple of MATE systems, but not on Ubuntu; should be the same concept, though.
