I am using the rtl8812au driver, version 4.3.8.12175.20140902+dfsg, 5.0.0-27-generic, x86_64: installed on Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS.
I am trying to find existing help for the following issues:
- The driver works fine on boot, but not after waking from sleep/suspend.
- I have to re-install it after kernel updates!?
- I'm also new to using a WiFi vs a wired connection to connect to the internet for my desktop.
- Is there a different USB device that has better support for Ubuntu?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

I would use github.com/aircrack-ng/rtl8812au instead, the dkms works

Thanks to all ... I appreciate the feedback. I tried to reply earlier but was blocked with a msg like "too many posts from this domain" ???1) the dkms I have didn't fix things after the recent kernel update. I think that rather than try to kludge this thing together (and without the skills) I'm going to pick up a router that supports bridge/client/whatev mode and figure that out ... and have a wired connect to my desktop.

The issue unexpectedly solved itself ... when we first moved to wireless internet, the cell > wifi box didn't work well positioned near my desktop. Recent network upgrades changed that and back to an ethernet connection and eliminating the usb-wifi connect. Thanks again to all who offered support.
