I have tried to install Ubuntu 16 alongside or Dual Boot with genuine windows 10 many times. When the Grub menu comes up I select try Ubuntu to check the USB stick. However, it always freezes at ubuntu starting screen (Ubuntu with the running dot below). Anyway, I have tried this USB in my old notebook year 2012 IT CAN WORK !!! So I think the problem comes from HP itself.
For my HP I have done by the step following
1. Make USB stick from iso file by RUFUS based on MBR, UEFI option.
2. Disable Fast boot in windows setting, and disable Secure boot in BIOS
3. Enter boot select mode and select USB boot
4. Select Try Ubuntu from Grub menu then FREEZE
Besides, I also tried to enable and disable Legacy mode (Results is the same, it still freeze)
