I have a new Asus TP412U laptop and have installed Ubuntu 19.04. I am having a serious problem with using the touchpad:
While moving the cursor with the touchpad, the cursor will seemingly at random enter select mode and start selecting text, images etc on the current application. I have to exit this selection mode by tapping the touchpad once. This happens A LOT!
I have tried many suggestions from this site but nothing seems to fix it. My previous machine was a MacBook Pro, which died, and I never had this problem with that machine.
Can I disable trackpad selection mode? Is the trackpad too sensitive?
Help!

I think I may have figured out the problem. The touchpad delay was too short. Perhaps touchpad bounce? Anyway, I changed the double-tap detection time and all seems well for now. settings->universal-access->pointing-and-clicking(double-click-delay). Thank you.
