Apparently, math accents from family 3 don't work in operatorname
.
You can use a lower level interface:
documentclassarticle
usepackage[T1]fontenc
usepackage[utf8]inputenc
usepackagekpfonts
DeclareRobustCommanddSing%
mathopwidearcarrowmathrmSingnolimits
DeclareMathOperatorsSingwidehatSing
begindocument
[
dSing(X) quad widearcarrowSing quad sSing(A)
]
enddocument

Good answer! One tweak: if you redefine the operator font ormathrm
, so that they’re no longer the same, you can replacemathrmSing
withoperatornameSing
.

Don't know why it works this way, but it does. May be a feature of the definition of widearcarrow
in the package.
