REQUEST: I've changed all of the settings to prevent the screen from going black. It still does. I can't tell if it's suspend or hibernation. Usually it takes more than 40 minutes, but it's random. Now, I'm asking for help to eliminate or prevent the OS from shutting off the screen for any reason.

RESEARCH: My 18.04 screen crashes, flashes, and locks me out after the screen image goes black and I wake it up with either the mouse or a space bar press. The only solution is to reboot. It's been responding in this way since I upgraded (online) from 16.04 to 18.04. I've tried all of the solutions I could find and posted a bug report (bug/1807264) on LaunchPad and received no help over the past two months.

Observation: In the related tags shown to the left of this window, you will notice other, supposedly similar questions that have been asked. More than one of these is very old; note that one of them is more than 8 years old. I was sucked into the same hole and read most of these. They do not relate! It doesn't seem helpful to allow content that old survive by linking it to the present.
