Absolute newb. Fresh install from live USB. 18.04 desktop w/updates, complete disk erase and encrypt.
During boot after install curser 'hung', I figured it was cause boot-USB was still in, so I hit power off(physically), pulled USB, hit power on.
Now logon screen says: 'Please unlock disk sda5_crypt'
Other info: windows 7/vista was previously on disk. Install asked a lot of questions about keyboard.
Thx

So you have an encrypted boot partition (I assume you asked for an encrypter disk?). Since it asks for keyboard questions you may have a non-standard keyboard. Personal experience, when you enter the initial encryption password the keyboard could still be mapped for QWERTY, and when you use it later the keyboard has its actual mapping. So your first password has better be keyboard-agnostic.
