so i just installed Ubuntu on my PC alongside windows.I created a new ext4 partition during installation and mounted it at the root(/). The issue that i have is that this partition only mounts as read only.
Thanks.

EDIT:
This is what showed up when i searched for logs with the partition in question:

Look in your /var/log/syslog for the reason it mounted read-only.

  • Open a terminal screen (Ctrl + Alt + F3), log in, and search for the words "read-only" or the device name in the log file, like so: grep "read-only" /var/log/syslog, or grep "/dev/sda" /var/log/syslog if your disk is called /dev/sda.
