I'm trying to install Nvidia driver in Linux 16.04 on my Asus RoG laptop. I've tried to install the driver using the .run file from Nvidia website, via terminal, as well as using the software update and apply changes.
But every time I install the Nvidia driver and reboot, I'll be facing login loop, in which every time I login I'll be sent back to the login screen again.
I've also tried every version of the drivers and all of them has the same problem. Is there anyone that can help me? I'm trying to install the driver because I need to use CUDA.

You can and should install Cuda and the companion driver version directly from the Ubuntu repositories. Using the Nvidia binaries is generally a bad idea. And either way you should disable Secure Boot in UEFI settings. As a last nite on the matter, the old 16.04 may not have the best driver for your card, it may benefit from a newer version. That being the case you should add the graphics drivers PPA first.
