I have a relatively new BenQ/Zowie EC1-A. Though I don't use it for gaming, this mouse has rave reviews on many Linux gaming sites.

The odd thing is that once in a while (every few hours of use - often shortly after a reboot), the scroll wheel goes into an "infinite down" scroll. I can scroll up briefly, but it immediately shoots back to the bottom as soon as I stop.

I can restore the correct behavior by unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in. Still, it sometimes recurs after a short while.

While this feature is useful for getting to the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of a spam email quickly, I do occasionally like to read more than the bottom screenful of an article.

Any advice on how to correct this problem?

I am running a fully patched Kubuntu (meaning Xorg, not Wayland!) version 18.04.3.
