I'm unable to install U18.04.3LTS Server to a Dell 3630 Tower. Depending on BIOS settings, I can boot to a USB stick and install to the SSD (/dev/nvme0n1) but after installing no operating system is found. Or sometimes the installer doesn't see the SSD at all.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

been flailing a bit longer and have some clarification: if I put the BIOS in legacy/auto mode, it can boot to the USB and install, but in the BIOS menus it even says that legacy mode is only for external devices and can't boot an OS from an internal device. If I put it in stricter UEFI mode, it boots the same USB drive but doesn't detect the SSD.
