Cytser Perseus


Cytser seryddol yn hemisffer gogleddol y wybren yw Perseus. Mae'n ymhell i'r gogledd yn yr awyr yn y Llwybr Llaethog rhwng Cassiopeia a'r Pleiades. Ei sêr disgleiriaf yw Mirfak ac Algol.


Fe'i enwir ar ôl y cymeriad chwedlonol Perseus a oedd yn fab i Zeus a Danae ym mytholeg Roeg.[1]


Mae Algol, neu Beta Persei, yn seren newidiol enwog. Mae'r seren yn disgleirio gyda maintioli gwelady o 2.3, ond yn edwino bob 2.867 diwrnod i faintioli 3.5. Achosir hyn gan seren llai disglair symud rhwng y seren ddisgleiriaf a'r Cysawd yr Haul oherwydd bod y ddwy seren yn cylchroi o'i amgylch.[2]


O ganlyniad i'w lleoliad yn y Llwybr Llaethog, mae nifer o glystyrau sêr yn Perseus. Mae'r seren Mirfak, neu Alffa Persei, a nifer o sêr llai disglair cyfagos yn ffurfio Clwstwr Alffa Persei, clwstwr agored sydd un o'r clystyrau sêr agosaf i'r Cysawd yr Haul.[3]




NGC 869 a NGC 884, y Clwstwr Dwbl yn Perseus


Mae dau glwstwr sêr, NGC 869 a NGC 884, cyfagos i'w gilydd, yn hawdd i'w weld trwy binocular. Adnabyddir fel y Clwstwr Dwbl. Adnabyddir hefyd fel h a χ Persei ar ôl eu enwau mewn hen gatalogau sêr.[3]


Lleolir y clwstwr sêr Messier 34 yn Perseus, sydd hefyd yn hawdd i'w weld trwy binocular.[3]


Lleolir Clwstwr Perseus neu Abell 426, sydd yn glwstwr galaethau tua 75 milliwn parsec (240 milliwn blwyddyn golau) o'r Cysawd yr Haul, yn y cytser.[4]
Yr alaeth ddisgleiriaf yn y clwstwr yw NGC 1275, ffynhonnell radio a phelydr X pwerus a adnabyddir hefyd fel Perseus A.[3]
