I want to migrate from Windows to Ubuntu, my only issues are my business. I use a POS system, Aldelo Pos for restaurants. I own the software and would not like to use a different program and would like to run quicken 2017.
I am aware that some Windows program can be run on wine but I do not know how to set it up to test to see if these 2 programs will run in a business environment.
I plan to test them on a PC that is not in use in the business before I migrate to Ubuntu in a running business.

since you own the source for Aldelo Pos, have you considered a re-write in the Linux environment which might expand your possibilities to shifting platforms altogether? Running anything mission critical with 3rd party add-ons.

I run Quicken and Quickbooks in a VM with Win10 as the guest OS - this works well, and avoids the potential problems of future releases of Quicken or Wine/Ubuntu causing problems.

Since this is critical software for your business, don't take risks. Intuit does NOT support Quicken on Linux, and we don't provide support for non-Ubuntu software (like Quicken). Use a recommended OS for your critical software. Like @CharlesGreen, I also use a VM.
